Pilates was originally conceived as a one-on-one program.  Joseph Pilates worked privately with all of his clients and rarely taught Pilates in a class setting.  Private Pilates sessions allow you and your teacher to focus on your areas of greatest needs.  Private sessions allow you to work at your own level and pace while focusing on the areas you really want to address.   Most studios will encourage  you to take a few privates sessions before joining a class and that is the model we follow at Balanced Pilates Studio.  We also suggest you periodically take a private session to fine-tune as you advance in your practice.  Going into a group class without baseline knowledge of the fundamentals of Pilates can open you up to possible injuries and potentially slow down the pace of the class.  Private sessions are conducted on multiple pieces of equipment, including the Refomer, Trapeze Table, Ladder Barrel, Chair, Ped-O-Pul and spine corrector. 

 

Semi-Private Pilates Session

Semi-private sessions are duets session of two similar skill levels.  The duet session will help you identify your own special strengths and challenges (such as: injuries, asymmetries which cause pain, area of tightness & weakness etc.).   Most studios will encourage  you to take a few privates sessions or duets before joining a class.  We also suggest you periodically take a private session to fine-tune as you advance in your practice.  Going into a group class without baseline knowledge of the fundamentals of Pilates can waste your time, open you up to possible injuries, and slow the class down.

 

Mixed Apparatus/Circuit Classes

 * prior Pilates experience required/see intro to Pilates package*

Open to students with previous experience on the Pilates apparatus, this Intermediate level class provides a challenging “circuit training” workout utilizing the Reformer, Mat, Tower, Ped-O-Pul, Springboard, Bohdi and Chair. Students will learn equipment settings as well as proper transitions for optimal flow between exercises. Class is limited to seven students.
